IGI Offering Two CRISPR Classes This Summer

IGI News

In an effort to reach broader audiences, the IGI is expanding its course catalog this summer and offering formal CRISPR courses for both undergraduates and the general public. Read below to learn more about these exciting opportunities.

Undergraduate Course – “IGI CRISPR Undergraduate Summer Lecture”

Building upon the success of last summer’s undergraduate CRISPR course, we now offer the option to sign up for lectures without lab, opening up seats for many more students. The lab course is currently full, but there are still a few spots available for the lecture portion. Prerequisite: BIO1A or equivalent.

Lecture:
  • MCELLBI N184 (1 Unit)
  • July 29th – August 15th
  • Monday – Thursday
  • 1 – 2 pm

Find MCELLBIN184 in the course catalog and enroll today! For more information, please contact Fei Lin at feilin@berkeley.edu.

Professional Course – “CRISPR Genome Editing: Practical Aspects of Precision Biology”

We have taken our CRISPR curriculum off-campus and into the Bay Area community through our new partnership with UC Berkeley Extension. Following a similar two-course format as the undergraduate experience, members of the public have the opportunity to hear from genome editing scientists and perform their own CRISPR experiments in a lab setting.

Lecture:
  • MCELLBI X414 (1 Unit)
  • July 24th – August 14th
  • Monday & Wednesday
  • 6:30 – 9:30 pm
  • UC Berkeley Extension, Room 206
Lab:
  • MCELLBI X414.1 (1 Unit)
  • July 29th – August 15th
  • Monday – Thursday
  • 2 – 5 pm
  • Valley Life Sciences Building
