Humans have been manipulating plant genomes since the development of agriculture, what has changed is the speed and accuracy of our ability to select for specific traits. This graphic, downloadable as an image, PDF, or PowerPoint slide, compares the four revolutions in plant breeding: (1) selective breeding; (2) mutation breeding; (3) transgenic breeding (aka, GM crops); and (4) genome editing.
