Ribonucleoprotein complex (RNP)

An assembly of molecules containing both protein and RNA. Often used to describe Cas9 protein bound to guide RNA (gRNA), which together form an active enzyme. For genome editing in cells, Cas9 can be delivered as a pre-assembled RNP, or as DNA or RNA encoding the genetic instructions for the protein and RNA components.
