IGI Affiliate Martin Kampmann Receives “Stand Up to Cancer” Innovative Research Grant
IGI Affiliate Martin Kampmann has received a 2016 Stand Up to Cancer Innovative Research Grant. Dr. Kampmann, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California, San Francisco, was one of Stand Up to Cancer’s 10 recipients of $750,000 grants to early-career scientists to support innovative, high-risk, high-reward projects in cancer research. He will be investigating a CRISPR-based project to pinpoint “weak links” in protein homeostasis networks of cancer cells. Collaborating with his UCSF colleague Jason Gestwicki, Dr. Kampmann will aim to exploit these vulnerabilities as new therapeutic targets.
