Doudna Awarded 2016 Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science
IGI Executive Director Jennifer Doudna has been awarded the 2016 Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science for her development of CRISPR/Cas9 as a breakthrough genome editing platform that promises to revolutionize biomedical research and disease treatment. The Tang Prizes are awarded annually to reward outstanding contributions in the areas of Sustainable Development, Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology, and Rule of Law.
Co-recipients of the 2016 Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science are Doudna’s research collaborator, Emmanuelle Charpentier, and Feng Zhang of MIT. Laureates will receive their prizes in a ceremony held at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall in Taiwan on September 25, 2016.
