Dan Rather talks with IGI Executive Director Jennifer Doudna about her development of CRISPR-Cas9 technology, the breakthrough genomic engineering tool that is now being used by researchers worldwide to study a wide range of applications in biomedicine, human health, agriculture and bioenergy.

During their candid conversation, Dr. Doudna talks about her early education, her decision to become a scientist, and how key mentors and collaborators have inspired her research.  She also emphasized the importance of caution and the necessity for a “public conversation” to raise awareness of the ethical and regulatory issues that will need to be carefully considered in light of this powerful new technology.
