Radiolab Podcast Covers CRISPR Immunity and Gene Editing (Update Episode!)
In 2015, WNYC Radiolab presented an episode, “Antibodies Part 1: CRISPR,” by hosts Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich. This episode explored the world of CRISPR with Jennifer Doudna, Eugene V. Koonin, Beth Shapiro, and Carl Zimmer.
Radiolab released a follow-up episode in 2017 entitled “Update: CRISPR.” This update episode includes the original content plus new material. In the updated segment, Jad and Robert explore resurrecting extinct species, releasing genetically modified mosquitoes, and the potential use of gene editing in humans.
“Hidden inside some of the world’s smallest organisms is one of the most powerful tools scientists have ever stumbled across. It’s a defense system that has existed in bacteria for millions of years and it may some day let us change the course of human evolution.”
