UC Berkeley is hosting a student-run Plant Genome Engineering Symposium (PGES) to highlight current progress in the field of plant genetic engineering. Keynote presentations from prominent researchers in the field will be featured throughout the day:
- Jennifer Doudna, UC Berkeley
- Daniel Voytas, University of Minnesota
- Dominique Loqué, JBEI
- Steve Jacobsen, UCLA
- Peggy Lemaux, UC Berkeley
- Brian Staskawicz, UC Berkeley

In addition, there will be student talks and a poster session with prizes for those who wish to present their own research. Funding for this event is provided by DuPont Pioneer as part of the DuPont Plant Sciences Symposia series. DuPont has sponsored over 50 independently organized symposia around the world since 2008 with the goal of providing a free and accessible forum where the next generation of scientists can interact with both public and private experts, build key organizational and management skills, and learn about opportunities in the agricultural sector.
