Emily Dilger has been with Ignited since January 2019, initially as Chief Education Officer and transitioning to CEO in April of 2023. During her tenure, she transformed an externship initiative into a core program and led curriculum projects with Genentech and the Office of Naval Research. Emily plays a central role in community outreach and partnerships to grow Ignited’s programs and ensure long-term sustainability for the 40-year-old organization. Previously, she managed BrainFacts.org at the Society for Neuroscience and developed public science programs like the Agar Art contest at the American Society for Microbiology. She holds a PhD in neuroscience from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BS in biochemistry from Mary Washington College. Emily enjoys hiking along the West Coast with her dog.
