The NAS/NAM Human Gene Editing Initiative Consensus Study Committee held an open public meeting in Paris today. This meeting focused on the principles underlying human gene editing governance and policy, as part of the committee’s comprehensive consensus study on the scientific, medical, and ethical considerations of human gene editing. The entire meeting was presented via live video webcast. The committee’s final report is expected in late 2016.

On Thursday, 28 April 2016, the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (Fédération Européenne des Académies de Médecine, or FEAM) organized a workshop on Human Genome Editing in the EU (Agenda), which was held at the same location. This workshop focused on the state of the science and international regulatory landscape regarding human gene editing. This workshop was designed to complement the following day’s NAS/NAM committee meeting. No webcast is planned.
