The Power of CRISPR Classroom Genome-Editing Kit
About The Power of CRISPR Kit
We continually strive to make genome editing clear and accessible. We’ve partnered with the Lawrence Hall of Science and Lab-Aids to offer students a safe and controlled, hands-on experience with CRISPR science. The Power of CRISPR kit lets learners try their hand at genome editing and provides teachers with a roadmap for an enriching learning experience.

Contents and Purchasing
The Power of CRISPR kit and accompanying curriculum are available for purchase on the Lab-Aids website. This six-lesson module provides students with the opportunity to learn about and use the new CRISPR gene-editing technology in a safe and controlled investigation.
pStudents learn how CRISPR works and how it could be used to treat sickle cell disease, a genetic blood disorder. Students conduct an investigation using CRISPR to edit bacterial genes to study the relationship between genes, proteins, and traits, and also explore supporting information they find in program videos and articles. Students later discuss the ethical aspects of gene editing along with the risks and benefits of using CRISPR for different applications.
The Power of CRISPRmodule includes three main components:
- Non-consumable base unit, teacher guide, and online resources
- Sterile, consumable materials in packages for 1-5 classes
- Voucher for perishable consumables to order 2 weeks before use
This module is designed for 2 weeks of instructional time, given 45 minute periods.
