Carlotta Ronda is a Principal Investigator at the Innovative Genomics Institute. The primary objective of her lab is to study the intricate interactions between our microbiome and human health.
Combining cutting-edge OMICs technologies with synthetic biology and stem cells-derived organoids, Dr. Ronda endeavors to map out the human microbiome interactome. At Columbia University, as a recipient of the prestigious Simons Junior Fellowship, she pioneered a landmark platform to edit microbial communities in vivo that integrated with CRISPR technology paves the way for future microbiome-based therapies.
Holding a Ph.D. in Systems Biology and an M.S. in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Carlotta swiftly recognized and harnessed the transformative potential of CRISPR technology. Originating from northern Italy and an alumna of Padua University, she cherishes her homeland’s rich culinary and wine traditions and loves a good laugh.
