Clarice de Azevedo Souza

Senior Program Manager, Climate and Sustainable Agriculture

Clarice de Azevedo Souza is the Senior Program Manager, Climate and Sustainable Agriculture at the Innovative Genomics Institute. She obtained a B.S. in Biology from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Canada, where she studied functional and comparative genomics in plants.

Clarice received postdoctoral training in molecular microbiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and in plant immunity at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2017, she was the first project manager to join the IGI, to help develop the operational and programmatic framework of the institute. In her current role, Clarice manages IGI’s projects related to climate change mitigation and sustainable agriculture. She also supports the HS Chau Women in Enterprising Science (WIES) Program and continues to run the IGI Seminar Series, which she initiated in 2018.
